SLOFE3D review - SureFeed accessories
Following on from my previous blog, today I am reviewing accessories for the SureFeed dispenser from a 3D printing company based in Germany named SLOFE3D.
A while back I was looking for a slow feeder as Mica eats so quickly he sometimes makes himself sick. I got a silicone one that sticks into an existing bowl and despite checking the measurements, failed to consider the thickness. The lid of the SureFeed dispenser wouldn't fit over it! Luckily, SLOFE3D make slow feed bowls that fit the SureFeed dispenser. They also make those name labels I mentioned in my last blog, mats in other colours, lids, split bowls, adjustable stands and my personal favourite, a cover bar.
I ordered a slow feed bowl, a cover bar and two lids. Everything feels good quality and substantial. I've been using the slow feed bowl since I got it and it really has slowed Mica down. He doesn't seem bothered that he can no longer scarf his food- he actually seems to appreciate the challenge. As you can imagine it's a little difficult to clean, same as any slow feed bowl. I use a piece of kitchen towel to clean off the remains before giving it a scrub. Be wary of using very hot water as I noticed it became a lot more flexible and started bending in my hands, which may affect the fit. You can get a dishwasher friendly bowl if you're prefer not to have the hassle of cleaning it manually!
Moving on to the lids, I bought these because I like a lie in at the weekend and we can no longer use an automatic dispenser as Mica opens it immediately. I'm therefore using the lids so I can prep their food the night before, and simply pop the bowls into their feeders all bleary eyed at breakfast time before returning to bed. I don't think the lids form an airtight seal, but I keep wet food in mine so they need to be refridgerated over night anyway.
The cover bar is how I stumbled across SLOFE3D in the first place. I was already bummed out that I couldn't use the automatic dispenser anymore when Mica opened Opal's SureFeed dispenser as well! I wondered if there was any kind of add on that could prevent him getting the lid open, and there is! The cover bar fits slightly above the lid so the mechanism can still open and close without an issue. Opal doesn't seem bothered about it being there when eating. I'm pretty confident that it will prevent Mica breaking into it and I wish there was an automatic dispenser that could cover the lids in a similar fashion, as dispensers advertised as tamper proof are most certainly not Mica proof. As it happens, Mica hasn't even tried to get into Opal's dispenser as his slow feed bowl keeps him busy with his own food. Hurray!
I hadn't ordered the split bowls, but I received two parcels by mistake and SLOFE3D kindly let me keep the other package. At first I was thinking what the heck am I going to do with eight slow feed bowls, but it turned out to be these half shell ones and they're actually pretty useful. Whilst you can get a split bowl from Sure Petcare, it's the one bowl rather than two separate ones. The SLOFE3D versions mean you can prep a few meals if you need to. You can also get half lids for these. I give Opal and Mica a pot of cat milk each evening as a treat and these are very handy to use in comparison to the regular bowls I put down and then have to monitor to stop any milk stealing. I've also been moving Mica's food into one of these once he's eaten so he can hoover up the bits he missed from his slow feed bowl. Plus, it's just nice to have a few extra bowls around when you don't feel like washing up isn't it?
I highly recommend SLOFE3D's products and I'm especially impressed by their ingenuity with the cover bar. You can purchase from their Etsy shop, eBay shop or their own website. Their website is a little cheaper, but you may need to use Google Translate to navigate it and I found I had to check out without the use of Google Translate as it wouldn't let me get through that stage otherwise. It's pretty easy to follow though!
I have a spare green and yellow bowl like the above photo, new and unused. I would like to gift this to someone so you can try out SLOFE3D's products yourself. If you're in the UK and have a SureFeed dispenser, please message me! 😸
