Gift ideas for cats

Christmas is coming up so I thought I'd share some successful gifts I've bought in the past. Although Opal probably enjoys the binbag full of wrapping paper the most...

Advent calendar by Pets at Home

What's Christmas without an advent calendar? The majority available for cats are catnip ones but I think the meaty ones are more palatable and less likely to be a waste of your money. My recommendation would be the Cosma one available from Zooplus, but sadly it's popularity means it's out of stock at the moment. Pets at Home do a meat treat version that may be a good alternative and includes a big bag of treats for Christmas day.

Penguin and polar bear cat nip toy duo by FreakMEOWt

FreakMEOWt make luxury toys for cats using Canadian catnip. None of my cats have been the type to go crazy with catnip but they had a stronger reaction to this stuff! There is a huge range of designs and so far I have bought a bat for Mali, a polar bear for Opal and a penguin for Mica. Whilst you should of course supervise play, and no toy is indestructable, FreakMEOWt use high quality fabric, secure stitching and product testers so you know you're getting a superior product at an affordable price.

Christmas Purrbox Deluxe by PurrBoxes

PurrBoxes is a subscription service for cats but you can buy a one-off box as a gift too. Each box contains a selection of toys, treats, cat grass, catnip and of course it all comes in a beloved box. This is one, if not the cheapest option available on the UK market currently, but it still offers a wide range of fun stuff to interest your cat. Much appreciated by Mali who enjoyed a roll around in the catnipy box.

Ripple Rug

Ripple Rug is a US product but there are some similar options available on Amazon UK without the high postage and custom fees. It takes up a lot of floor space but I reckon it's the most played with toy I've bought. Simply press a few studs into the fabric to create some hidey holes and tunnels. It's a great toy for multi cat households but I'm sure it's equally fun for single cats once some toys and treats have been added. Surprisingly it doesn't get covered in fur as you'd expect either, and it's easy to clean.

Tissue paper grass mat by Fluffy Little Kitten Ltd

This is a bit of a wasteful one to be honest but there's no denying cats love it! A tissue paper grass mat available in both green and yellow. It arrives flat and needs to be pulled into shape upon arrival, which is a bit tricky. Once formed however, your cats will be all over it like a rash. Great to chew, scratch and hide in but sadly it doesn't last long! Free UK delivery and a free gift with every purchase currently.

Spring toy by Fluffy Little Kitten Ltd

Another great buy from this shop is a pack of plastic springs. They don't look like much but I've yet to see a cat not enjoy them. They are safe to chew on due to no sharp ends, and their bounce makes them unpredictable and prey like to a cat. The large pack size is appreciated as they'll soon be getting lost under your fridge.

Personalised letter box Christmas gift by Pick 'n Tricks

Pick 'n Tricks, as the name would suggest, make pick and mix for pets. Whilst their products are primarily for dogs they also have some cat treats which are just as well thought out as their dog bakes. I recommend their letter box gift which is plenty big enough for two cats to share and includes a couple of toys. They also offer smaller bags and jars with the same high quality treats inside. Mica loved the sprats, especially the one covered in a meat layer like a pig in blanket.

Festive mousse with turkey by Webbox

Webbox is a good quality cat food in the UK and has a great range of Christmas food and treats every year. Their festive mousse with turkey is £9.48 for a pack of 12 and they currently have a Black Friday code, BF20, for 20% off any purchase. They are also stocked in most supermarkets so if you'd rather not buy a multipack for fear your cat will turn their nose up at it later, you may be in luck next time you do your food shop.
